About

Aloha

We have been blessed to call North Kohala home for over a decade. This is where we raise our family and run our farm and  nonprofit, the Hawai’i Institute of Pacific Agriculture (HIP Agriculture).  As educators we work with island youth around issues of food sovereignty, farmer training, and building resiliency. Including Starseed Ranch, we have three campuses in the North Kohala area where we run educational programs for keiki (grades K-12) and host retreats for all ages. Our main farm in Halawa provides an abundant supply of farm fresh produce to the Hawi Farmers Market and the Aina Pono school garden program.

Starseed Ranch has a vibrant history of sustainability and community, and we are honored to serve as stewards. This land has always held a special place in our hearts as we were married here in 2011, and have returned many times over the years to spend time with Jyoti and Andre. We are excited to welcome more people to this beautiful and sacred place. Please let us know if you have any questions. We look forward to hosting you on the land soon!

About Starseed Ranch

Starseed Ranch was originally built by Kenny Loggins as a Y2K bunker and personal estate for his family. The 26-acre ranch is completely off grid, with one of the only privately powered micro hydro-electric and solar systems on the island, beautiful unique architecture that blends into the landscape, lodging accommodations and a diverse tropical orchard and farm. At 500-feet elevation, a stream runs through both sides of the property. In the center of the property a covered walkway supported by ‘ōhi‘a beams leads to guest quarters, a large outdoor kitchen and dining area and movement studio.

Jyoti and Andre Ulrych purchased the estate in 2003 with a vision of creating a world renowned place of learning and healing and created a foundation to carry on on their legacy at Starseed. HIP Agriculture is currently working in partnership with the foundation to offer vital programming on the land.
